Position Summary:


Lees Marketplace is looking for a friendly, loyal, hardworking and reliable individual to join our Management Team as a GM Manager at our New Mountain Green Location. The retail industry is constantly growing and changing, but the quality and service that we are able to provide in our GM department is always consistent. Some of the duties of the GM Manager include overseeing and maintaining the entire function of the GM Department and ensuring the implementation of company policies, budgets, and operating procedures are being met and maintained. As a strong leader, you will need to fully understand and effectively coach other team members in the “Lees Way” of the ordering, stocking and rotating of the products in the GM department. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in education/training points that will continually grow your skill sets and continually prepare you for the exciting new programs in the department. Primary Position Duties:

 
  • Develop maximum customer relations through a friendly and courteous behavior.
  • Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.
  • Provides a safe, clean and positive environment; and consistently builds and supports a culture that is based on relationships and continuous improvement.
  • Has knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, programs and directives. Refers to Team Member Handbook continually to ensure policies and procedures are followed. Promotes a harassment-free environment, and immediately reports any potential harmful situation to management.
  • Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department and store through training and education of self and other team members.
  • Attends departmental, store and company meetings as required; contributes to profits and revenues and meets productivity standards.
  • Order all merchandise for the GM sections. Be familiar with store order cycle, make corrections to the order books as needed, supervise orders written by outside suppliers and maintain minimum back room inventory.
  • Stock the general merchandise section, bring out required merchandise, price-mark as required and place merchandise on the shelf.
  • Rotate, face and dust GM products, maintaining the section in an orderly and attractive manner.
  • Maintain accurate pricing by use of price books, daily/weekly price change sheets, merchandising and promotional lists, shelf tagging. Price regular merchandise to sale price and vice versa.
  • Must be familiar with store layout, location of safety and emergency equipment.
  • Work with Store Director on establishing and monitoring team member work schedules within the department.
  • Maintain effective control of department labor and inventory in line with established budgets and guidelines.
  • Team member performance evaluations must be done effectively and on a timely basis.
  • Maintain a high level of coordination and communication with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of products and service throughout the store and within the operation.
  • Maintain an awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing areas at all times as it relates to the GM Department. Also, maintain awareness and concern for the company's interest and investment at all times through the regular practice of sound, honest judgment.
  • Plan aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales. Assist management with cross merchandising ideas with other departments.

  • Responsible for gross profit, merchandising, preparing and displaying product within set guidelines and standards. Maintains effective control of department sales, wage expenses and inventory within established budgets. Ensures department contributes to profits and revenues.

Position Requirements:

 
  • Experience: Previous Grocery Experience needed
  • Minimum Age: 18 Years of age
  • Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Equipment: Experience operating a pallet jack, baler, forklift, box cutter, and two-wheeler, cash register, computer, order machine, ladder, compactor, calculator, etc.
  • Physical Abilities: Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, twist, and bend; repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl. Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting. Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders required.
  • Communication: Ability to write, speak, hear and understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members and guests. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
 

Education or Skills:


High School diploma or GED; or related job experience and/or training are required.
